We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Pension Calculations Specialist to perform complex pension benefit calculations and related financial processing. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of retirement and survivor benefits, maintaining data integrity, applying applicable IRS regulations, and supporting timely and accurate benefit payments and reporting.

The ideal candidate has strong mathematical and analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to manage high-volume workloads while meeting strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Benefit Calculations

• Calculate and process complex retirement benefits, survivor benefits, and account adjustments accurately and efficiently.

• Review calculations and financial information to ensure accurate benefit payments.

Data Integrity and Compliance

\n
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of member records, financial data, and payment information.
\n
• Apply applicable Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) statutes, IRS regulations, and established procedures to benefit payments and reporting.

• Ensure calculations and transactions comply with applicable requirements and internal controls.
\n

Financial Analysis and Research

• Research, analyze, and verify financial transactions, reporting system data, and member information.
\n
• Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve calculation or data-related issues.
\n
• Support accurate financial reporting and reconciliation activities.
\n

Employer and Member Support

\n
• Communicate professionally with employers to verify documentation, obtain required information, and resolve inquiries.
\n
• Research and respond to questions related to benefit calculations, account information, and supporting documentation.
\n
• Prepare clear, accurate written correspondence and maintain appropriate documentation.
\n

Systems and Payment Processing

• Use computer systems and databases to retrieve, analyze, and validate information.
\n
• Process payments and adjustments that require procedures outside standard automated systems.
\n
• Support the accuracy and efficiency of payment processing and related reporting activities.
\n

Education and Experience

\n
• Some college coursework preferred; a college degree is not required.
\n
• Relevant experience in pension administration, financial calculations, accounting, benefits administration, data analysis, or a related field is beneficial.
